Young people in Northern Norway shall have the opportunity to participate actively in European and Arctic cooperation, and feel that their voice matters.
Being a European Youth Capital is a unique opportunity for Tromsø and Northern Norway to establish long-term international partnerships.
Through the project’s ERASMUS+ accreditation, several international exchanges for young people and youth workers will be carried out. This will be made available for youth organisations, leisure activities, etc.
The initiative also collaborates extensively with European researchers and connects them with youth research environments in the region. Numerous international meetings and conferences are expected to take place in Tromsø in 2026.
Goals:
- Facilitate active youth participation in European and Arctic cooperation projects, where their voices are recognised.
- Carry out international exchanges and competence-building activities for youth and youth workers through the project’s ERASMUS+ accreditation.
- Establish long-term partnerships between youth organisations, leisure services and international networks for learning, culture and participation.
- Strengthen collaboration between European and Northern Norwegian research environments in the youth field, and contribute to hosting international meetings and conferences in Tromsø in 2026.
