All young people should be heard, valued, and have equal opportunities to feel a sense of belonging and contribute to society

This initiative aims to ensure that all young people in the region have genuine opportunities to participate, express themselves, and shape their local communities through strengthened civic engagement, cultural diversity, and universal accessibility.

Activities include norm‑critical workshops in all upper secondary schools in Troms, projects focusing on inclusion in working life and society at large (“New Pathways” – 100 work‑placement opportunities for young people in Tromsø Municipality in cooperation with NAV), as well as projects related to universal design and minority groups, such as Accessibility Awareness Week.

The initiative also includes a Pioneer Programme, where 20–30 young people from diverse backgrounds across the region will contribute as communicators, bridge‑builders and agents of change within their local communities.

Goals:

  • Increase participation among young people with minority backgrounds and ensure their voices are heard and valued.
  • Strengthen young people’s competence and awareness of diversity.
  • Provide safe and accessible arenas where youth from all parts of society can express their identities and cultures.
  • Promote universal design and accessibility so that all youth, regardless of functional ability or background, have equal access to participation in society and cultural life.
  • Create spaces where young people can explore and promote their local, Arctic and European identities.

Activities:

  • Norm critical workshops for youth in upper secondary schools
  • Nye Spor (New Paths) in Tromsø Municipality
  • Accessibility Week
  • City Cleanup Day
  • Youth Clubs in the whole region of Northern Norway
  • Community and area development Initiative in Kroken
  • Much more!
